WELCOME TO MY ZOO PORTFOLIO

This is where I began my photography journey photographing at my local Zoo’s, and what eventually sparked my interest to take up Wildlife photography.

Here you can see a collection of my favourite Zoo photos that I’ve taken over the years from various Zoo’s, mainly around the South West of England. I found this is a great type of photography for getting into especially when you’re first starting out and learning, as you’ll have plenty of time to practice using your camera, experimenting with composition and learning your camera settings, as the animals are not going anywhere.

Top Tips: Although the majority of these are all taken through glass or fences looking into the enclosures the challenge is try and make the photograph look as natural as possible. The easiest way to remove fence lines from your images is to shoot wide open (which is the lowest f number your lens can do) or get as close to the fence as possible. Also look for any shady spots on the fence too, as this will really help on bright sunny days. As for shooting through glass, to get the best results find a spot that is clean without smudges and put your lens (with the lens hood on) right up to the glass so it blocks out all of the light, as this will stop any reflections showing up in your photos.
